Why Utkarsh-Enabled?

Utkarsh-Enabled is an urgent initiative to help people with disabilities find employment. We provided training in different sectors to people with disabilities and find employment opportunities to them through collaboration with like-minded organisations.

A majority of children with disabilities are forced to skip school or are able to study only till 10th or 12th.  Even those who manage to get educated fail to secure jobs because of the misconceptions and bias towards disability.

Look at this – According to Census 2011, only 26% of the total population of people with disabilities is working. Persons with disabilities constitute 2.21% of India’s population, which means there are around 2.68 crores Indians with some or the other form of disability. A 2011 report by ILO (The International Labour Organisation) titled, 'Persons with Disability and The India Labour Market: Challenges and Opportunities,' says that almost 73.6% of the disabled in India are unemployed. The report also states that amongst the worst neglected are disabled women and those with mental disability.

Utkarsh-Enabled Project hopes to create 10 lakh jobs for the differently-abled in the next five years. For this ambitious vision, Utkarsh will team up with corporate companies and other organisations and help them procure eligible, efficient and trained candidates.

How can you help?
