Lakhs of people in our society do not have access to social approval, forget social justice. They exist around us, invisible and ignored. Utkarsh Social Justice and Empowerment Movement works to bring such sections of society to the fore, enabling them to lead a life of dignity.
The Utkarsh Social Justice and Empowerment Initiatives include mental health awareness, de-addiction awareness campaigns, skill-based education and training, livelihood generation, and empowerment of people with disabilities.
We have set up the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Empowerment Centre for Drug De-addiction and Mental Illness Care (Counselling and Meditation) at Mulund West, Mumbai, Maharashtra. The Centre conducts regular counselling and medication programmes to help them resume their lives as respected and responsible citizens of the country. They need care and love from society as well, in addition to medicines and therapies. Utkarsh also provides livelihood generation for the recovered addicts through various ventures.
The Utkarsh Social Justice and Empowerment Movement also aims to provide skill-based education and employment opportunities to people with disabilities.
‘Utkarsh Cafeble’ is a step towards the noble cause, as we train people with disabilities in hospitality management and train them to work in Utkarsh-run restaurants. Utkarsh Cafeble restaurants are managed by a team of people with disabilities, from the chefs to the servers!
