Utkarsh Legal Cell Against Animal Abuse aims to prevent cruelty against animals and birds through legal means. The Cell takes legal action against culprits who abuse, harm, and kill animals.
Animal abuse is so common that every day you hear or read about the barbaric nature of humans towards animals. Most people think that they can get away with harming animals. It is not only stray animals who face the wrath of cruel people, but even pets inside homes are prone to abuse. Utkarsh regularly spreads awareness about the various sections of the law that could invite harsh punishment to perpetrators.
The Utkarsh Legal Cell Against Animal Abuse aims to prevent attacks and abuse of poor animals and ensure the culprits are brought to book.
One of the first victories of Utkarsh Legal Cell Against Animal Abuse was persuading BMC to remove their Corona Advisory Posters cautioning people to stay away from animals to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. The guidance stickers released in March 2020 were creating panic among common citizens. Such an advisory would have created fear and anxiety in the minds of the people, which could have led to further hatred against animals. Utkarsh Legal Cell Against Animal Abuse approached MCGM and requested that they discontinue the misleading information. They soon omitted the point from their information stickers.
The Utkarsh Legal Cell has also taken many initiatives to reduce or prevent human-animal conflicts in housing societies and other places.
